Hot Honey Sesame Crusted Fried Haloumi
 

"This is going to be the new go-to salad on your menu. It's sweet, salty, fresh, spicy and topped with Haloumi to give it a rich and savoury flavour that will satisfy your customers' tastebuds."

Ingredients

Orange and Jalapeño Cilantro Vinaigrette

  • 1 Jalapeño, finely diced
  • 1 cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cupOlive Oil
  • 1 Orange, juiced and zested

Hot Honey & Sesame Haloumi Salad

  • 250 g Saputo Haloumi, sliced into large cubes (40 g each/6 cubes)
  • 1 tsp Canola Oil
  • 1/3 cup Honey
  • 2 Anaheim chilis, sliced
  • 3 tbsp Sesame seeds, toasted
  • 1 cup Arugala
  • 1/4 cup Fresh mint
  • 1/2 tsp Maldon salt
  • 1 Orange, segmented

Directions

For the Orange and Jalapeno Cilantro Vinaigrette: 

  1. Add the jalapeno, cilantro, olive oil, orange juice and zest in a bowl and combine.

For the Hot Honey Sesame Crusted Fried Haloumi:

  1. Heat a non-stick pan and add canola oil.
  2. Sear Saputo Haloumi on both sides until browned.
  3. Add honey, Anaheim chilis and sesame seeds. Reduce until Saputo Haloumi is glazed. Make sure to reserve any honey and chilis left in the pan for plating.
  4. Lay down fresh arugula and then the glazed Saputo Haloumi. 
  5. Surround the Saputo Haloumi with fresh orange segments, fresh mint and the vinaigrette. Season with Maldon salt.
  6. Pour the remaining chilli honey over the whole salad and serve.
